Another one of the highligts (one was the Blagojevich spoof) on Saturday Night Live last December 13, 2008 was about Gov. David Paterson. The SNL skit cast Fred Armisen played the legally blind New York Governor David Paterson discussing on filling Hillary Clinton’s Senate seat during the “Weeked Update” portion.
In the skit, Seth Meyers helps Gov. Paterson turn his chair to face the cameras then later on, when Amy Poehler was bidding goodbye to the show, Paterson returned wandering in front of the camera – Gov. David Paterson didn’t think the SNL skit making fun at his blindness was funny.
Gov. Paterson on Sunday Daily News:
“I can take a joke, but only 37% of disabled people are working, and I’m afraid that that kind of third-grade humor certainly adds to this atmosphere.”
Errol Cockfield Jr., Paterson’s spokesman said “the governor is sure that ‘Saturday Night Live,’ with all of its talent, can find a way to be funny without being offensive.“
