This blog was originally from Blogger with the domain bought from GoDaddy. I decided to transfer all the posts and comments from Blogger to WordPress on 2009. How did I do it? The first requirement is at least a shared hosting to be able to host a WordPress blog. Afterwards, everything is a breeze, but here is the exact steps I did:
- In a shared hosting account, install WordPress. Usually, there are one-click installs available for WordPress blogs.
- Install the WordPress them you like
- In the domain provider like GoDaddy or Namecheap, point the DNS from blogger to your blog’s new IP.
- Once you are logged in to your WordPress blog, click on the “Import” menu under Tools
- From there, you can choose Blogger and everything will be done automatically.
- If you don’t want to have any problems with the URL (such as 404 error when redirecting from search engines), you might want to change the permalink. Click on “Permalinks” under Settings then you could use this permalink structure: “/%year%/%monthnum%/%postname%.html”
The permanent structure is what I missed when I transfered this blog to WordPress. Thus, users encountered HTTP 404 errors. Hope it would happen to your blog too.
