American Idol season 10 premiered January 19, 2011 with big changes, new judges, returning producer, online voting, customized songs and music videos, among others.

Nigel Lythgoe was in American Idol since 2002 but left on 2008 for So You Think You Can Dance. Last year, he returned as executive producer of the show. Meanwhile, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler are the new judges after Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, Kara DioGuardi and Ellen DeGeneres. Ryan Seacrest and Randy Jackson are the two people who has been in the reality series since 2002.

I was able to watch the season premiere where the audition took place at New Jersey. I felt that the show isn’t the same as when Simon Cowell was there. Looked like all the judges are so soft with the contestants. They are trying to be polite to the contestants and that’s how I miss Cowell on the show. He brightens up the show by making nasty remarks and being frank about what he thinks.

Out of all those who auditioned, 51 were given the golden ticket. How far will they go? Let’s also see if the judges will be more entertaining as the season progresses. By the way, the audition continues tonight in New Orleans. I hope I’ll be able to watch it again later.
